The Colonists

Developed by Codebyfire and published by Mode 7, The Colonists is a game that has all the prerequisites to become a beautifully made strategic city builder. It is a settlement/colony management game mainly based around resource collection and transportation. The robots have split off from humans to make a better life for themselves and after landing on a new planet you’ll need to lead them as they build a new home for themselves. Wanting to become more like humans themselves, they embark on a journey to settle on a newly-discovered planet, preparing to receive more inhabitants from their homeworld. To do so, you must help them build fully functional settlements. The maps are actually well made and the game sometimes feels like a puzzle game because of it. In The Colonists, you're offered a variety of windows that keep track of the resources' offer and demand, a feature that is incredibly helpful since being able to know whenever you're running low on something could potentially save your game. Everything can be upgraded! All of your buildings (and even your roads) can be upgraded to increase efficiency, and no management game fan likes anything more than efficiency. An excellent game if you like the older Settlers series. Clear and simple game mechanics that combine to make a wonderful and complex game.
