INSOMNIA: The Ark Review
INSOMNIA is a dieselpunk sci-fi RPG about the slowly degrading remnants of human society attempting to survive on an abandoned space metropolis. With multiple factions, 12 hours of the main story, handcrafted locations, and a really satisfying combat system Insomnia is a pretty good game. Develop your character, explore lovingly handcrafted locations, interact with peculiar NPCs and factions, craft equipment and try to stay alive in this brutal world. Survive hunger, thirst, fatigue while searching for valuable technology and resources in over 70 unique locations. Pay attention - INSOMNIA’s nuanced world can conceal unexpected quests from treacherous characters, as well as savage enemies and deadly hazards. Exploration is a key mechanic in this game. There are small junk piles and abandoned robot parts scattered throughout the entire world. By exploring, the player can find these piles and search them. Main quests do have branching story lines which allows for the player to see a different sequence of events unfold on multiple playthroughs. Quests, main quests especially can have puzzle or riddle elements included in them. This is why it is important to pay attention to the NPCs that the player meets. The game deserves to be given a chance. It's absolutely worth checking out for anyone who likes action RPGs with rich and rewarding exploration and progression.
